Day 15 - An Update on the Youngest Two

Finally, something is going our way.  Well, not our way, but for my two gastro struggling kiddos, it seems like maybe we are headed in the right direction.

Sydney is doing better, she's not out of the woods yet, but we seem to be making the right tracks to get to a healthier self and so much happier.  Plus, when her next growth spurt hits, she might actually grow with it this time.  We're hoping anyway.  Once she was finished with her appointment, we made our way to the ID Lab, and once there our ten year old was able to finally get her brand spankin' new Military ID card.  Now she feels like she's starting to grow up!

As for Bradley, he maintained his weight and so we were thrilled that there was no further discussion to start him back up on his tube feedings and reduce his oral feeds.  There was some discussion about getting his blood and checking for Celiac Disease; however, not until he is going to be sedated again.  Turns out there might be some help with that.  Bradley had three appointments today, after gastro he had Audiology, which he was not a fan of, at all, in any way...  And after that we went into ENT. It was nice to see the spark of recognition when his Doc came in and told Bradley, "You've grown!"  Haha.

The tubes in Bradley's ears are not working anymore so we have to take him in, clean out his ears and then put new ones in.  Bradley is having an increase in acid reflux, this can make his struggle with his ears that much more difficult.    So, we've increased his acid reflux medication, and once we can get that in his system, hopefully it will build up and get some of the reflux to settle done.  When we get his ears cleaned out and tubes in them then we are hopeful that he will start to feel a lot better.  Boy are we hoping!  As for his feedings, if he can keep his  weight up, we can keep to orals, if he starts dipping in the next three months, then there will be a problem and we'll have to supplement more g-tube food.  Time will tell for him.

For now, Motrin is our friend as we try to control the pain that is working over time in his ears.  There's no infection, but the ears are red and angry.  All we need now is to have the powers that be gather together and set a date, as quickly as possible.

Well, after another very long day, he is down and asleep.  Just in case he decides he needs to be up in the middle of the night, I'm going to chase him into my own sleep.

So a pretty good day for two out of three Burnett Kids...although Madison staying healthy as ever..well, that might mean we are a go for three for three for all my kiddos.

Have a great night, catch you again tomorrow when I jump into Day 16 of the Blog Challenge!
